Monday
Your exploration of the Faroe Islands has not been completed without experiencing them by sea. Today you will sail in a traditional Faroese boat – the utmost of Faroese handcraft. The Faroese boat was a lifeline to the people that settled the beautiful villages you see along the coastline. With this type of boat people discovered rich fishing grounds and now you can follow in their footsteps. If this is your first attempt at fishing do not worry, sea-angling is easy to learn and fun too. Depending on sea current and weather there are several areas where you can expect to catch fish. We may sail northeast and throw our fishing lines by the islet of Hoyvíkshólmur or we may head across the fjord and try our luck outside the island of Nólsoy.
Typical fishes in the areas are Atlantic cod, haddock and saithe. Sometimes you may catch whiting, ling, and tusk. Enjoy!
Tuesday
If you have a rental car, we suggest you explore the areas outside Tórshavn: Kirkjubøur, Vágar island and areas further north. If you do not have a rental car you can take the public bus to Kirkjubøur, which is the old cultural centre of the Faroe Islands. Visit the roughly 900-year-old Roykstovan, Ólav's church from AD 1111, named after King Olav the Holy. This church is the oldest church in the Faroe Islands and is still in use. See the ruins of St. Magnus Cathedral, which is one of the largest cultural attractions in the Faroe Islands.
